COURSE DESCRIPTION
Effective brand management in these competitive times is of essential importance in the survival game. The proliferation of fakes in the global market is a major threat to this objective. The results are huge financial losses and substantial damage to brand image.600 Billion USD per year is lost in industries ranging from the drug trade, pharmaceuticals, automotive, cigarette and clothing. No one is spared. Local Chinese authorities doing investigations and evaluation have discovered that 70% of counterfeits are produced in China. TUV Rheinland’s Brand Protection Platform is web-based, which means that all interested parties are able to participate in authenticity verification. Combined with risk assessment, this system provides a high degree of security developed in cooperation with Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute of System Technology (the birthplace of MP 3 technology). Backed up by the TUVdotcom Service,  a repository of documentation is provided for the duration of the product’s entire life cycle.

The company’s worldwide offices are located in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. TÜV Rheinland is a member of TÜV Cert, the inspection association in Bonn, Germany. About the Trainer
 Markus Rochel has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Germany’s University of Karlsruhe. He joined the TÜV Rheinland Group in 1992 as Project Manager for product certification in Japan. Based in Osaka, Mr. Rochel is a design consultant for Japanese manufacturers wishing to apply for certification of their products against German, European and other international (IEC, UL) Standards. In 1994, he expanded his field of knowledge into the semiconductor industry focusing on environmental, health and safety considerations for manufacturing equipment according to the “SEMI” Standards Series. His expertise led him to actively participate in Japanese Technical Committees formulating SEMI Guidelines for Implementation. In 2001, he took on the leadership of TUV Rheinland’s West Japan operations and a year later became Director for Product Safety and Quality (PSQ) of the entire TUV Rheinland Japan. As the head of PSQ, he was tasked with developing the Brand Protection System as a special unique service for product life cycle management. He is at present actively promoting the system in Japan, New Zealand and the Philippines
